Move on up & peace you will find into the steeple of beautiful people where there's only one kind Walo ile babawa O - walo ile omon Africa

I thought that this future Friday photo was appropriate for this post. Fifa World Cup 2010 has begun! I can't believe it has started already. From June 11th to July 11th, I will be glued to my television watching all the action happening.
I love things that bring people together, & just like the Olympics brings together the world, so does the World Cup. I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see all of the ethnicities & cultures in one place doing something that they love! How brilliant. I love this sport so much. Tomorrow I will be cheering on my USA boys play against England (though I'm excited to see Rooney play too.) Shea & I have been cheering all week that "The Yanks are marching in!"
So for the next month I will probably post a lot about the games & how excited I am about them!

Here is my photo for future Friday & the Fifa 2010 South Africa official poster.

Cá fhad é ó Siúl tríd na stoirmeacha Dul tríd na stoirmeacha Cá fhad é ó

Sometimes I get scared & feel overwhelmed when I think about going to Africa. My thoughts get caught up in the fact that I might fail. Not failure for myself, but that I will fail others. I try not to think of the corruption that goes on there, because if I focus on that I feel a hopelessness & helplessness. I think that there would be nothing that I can do as one person.
But then after all these thoughts come, something happens to me that is unexplainable. Every time I think of just one child & that whatever thoughts of failure or judgment I have on myself just completely lifts off of me.
I don't want to be an Anthropologist. I don't want to be a Sociologist. I just want to help. I want to be knowledgeable also. Because a bleeding heart without wisdom is just a bleeding heart.
Every year my friend Kasey goes to Zambia with an organization called Family Legacy & is based here in Dallas. These are some of her photos of this past summer when she spent 3 months there at Camp Life. I love these photos so much & I'm so glad I have close friends that are willing to put themselves aside for children.

So let’s get on an airplane go back to where we began to that point which is days apart that stamp right next to your heart

Last night I had to say goodbye to one of my closest friends Tala. The first time we talked to each other was on a trip away with the men's soccer team my freshman year in '06. I was their soccer manager & Tala was on the team with many of my close guy friends. On the way to Alabama we stoppped at a Subway. The coach made sure to tell all the guys that they were not aloud to have sweets before the game. While waiting in line a very tall very dark with a very deep voice said, "Hey can you get me a cookie? Chocolate chip?" Wanting to get on the good sides of the team & me being the only female on the bus, I said, "I'll do my best." I checked out & asked for 2 chocolate chip cookies. Back on the bus i secretely passed one back to him & that's how we became friends. There are so many more stories like this that I could write about. Each of them very special to me. Tala graduated from Belhaven & started on his masters degree here in Texas. So when I moved home he is one of the people that made it a lot easier to be back here. He's on a flight now to London & from there he will go back home to Nigeria. Having international friends is not easy. You always have to say goodbyes & you never know where they will be in the world. I thank God for Skype, that's for sure! I'm not sure when I will see him again, but hopefully I will be able to go over there & he can show me around. The things that I have learned from Tala I keep very close to my heart. The first photo was taken at homecoming '06, my freshman year. He gave me flowers that night. The second photo was me telling him goodbye last night.

O lord what can I say I am so sad since you went away time time ticking on me Alone is the last place I wanted to be Lord what can I say

Today has been so long & so full of every emotion known to man. Some things just don't always work out & you have to go through steps & rethink a way of doing something. You wonder all this time if you are actually are going to make it through this time, but through the whole process you are still very hesitant to say you have victory. I was angry today that's for sure & just fed up & frustrated. I took it out on my sister Shea (don't worry I already said I was very sorry for this.) & we didn't talk for a couple of hours, this is very hard when you live in a very small apartment together.
Some times I think I'm not going to make it through & all I want to say is forget you day & go to sleep. But today I stuck it out & I'm so glad I did because I would have missed out on the rainbow after the storm. All I can say is I thank my Papa God for putting women in my life that are amazing & take care of me when I lack in this area. And for my Mum, today, she was my Shero.
This is a little long & normally I don't like to write a lot but this time I'm going to. Today waiting in the financial aid office a guy came over & sat right next to me ( a little to close.) He immediately started up a conversation with me & asking me questions about financial aid he thought I might know. Well I had no clue what he was talking about, so after I wasn't answering his questions about that he changed the subject. He asked me about my tattoo on my wrist (refer to the header of my blog, yep that's my tattoo.) It's a very personal subject & it's hard for me to tell someone what it means to me without going deep into the meaning. But I went ahead after he continued to ask me the meaning & I told him. After this he asked me my major & things of this, but then he was called into the office so off he went.
When he left, I felt like I did not want to tell him what my tattoo meant! I kind of felt like I had given him a little piece of who I am, & i don't know him from Adam! The reason I got the tattoo on my wrist is because I do want to tell people the meaning, but it's hard for me to just open up to people that I don't know (blogging doesn't count.) Especially when someone is just trying to make conversation or just flirting with me. I feel like I need to come up with a much better explanation, that way I don't sound like some dumb kid that went to go get a tat of a bird cus I thought it was cute. I will work on this tomorrow!
